The Holden Monaro is beginning to show signs of its age. Discounts on Australia's biggest selling coupe have reached nearly $9000.

Campbelltown Holden dealer Paul Wakeling Motors has reduced a large range of six-speed Monaro CV8s to $55,990 drive-away, a saving of $8,732. Four-speed automatic is a no-cost option.

The 5.7-litre two-door coupe comes well equipped with four airbags, anti-lock brakes, cruise control, traction control, CD player, alloy wheels and full power equipment. Upgraded last year, the CV8 gained a 10kW increase in engine power to 245kW, a retuned exhaust system and other minor upgrades.

Dealers are trying to clear stock to make way for a Series IV Monaro due later this year. It will have a more aggressive front bumper, more power and dual exhausts. David Berthon
